What is a webpage template?

A webpage template is a layout for a website, or a section (a number of pages) of website.

A template includes the general layout and design of the page including menus, logos, colours etc.  Its a representation of a webpage without the content.  Each page in the website or section is based on template for the site/section.  When we present a template, we also include dummy content in it to show you how the site wide graphical elements will look.

Site-wide design elements include bullet points, arrows, links, buttons, dummy content image, and heading styles.The development of an individual page in your website follows 4 steps:

• Template Requirements - a "mudmap" drawing of each template, showing the various page elements that are expected to be in the templates. Page elements include any criucial information that you want to appear on each webpage based on the template eg. phone number, menus, logos, content areas, "leader" text areas. The page description is prepared by  your account manager with your help for the Design Brief.
• Webpage mocks - a graphic design layout for each of the templates for your website.  The mocks should incorporate all of the elements in the Template Requirements.  The template mocks, represent how your webpage which actually be built, but are just image JPG files.
• Templates - these are actual HTML webpages.  They should look substantially similar to the Webpage mocks. They will also include the site-wide graphical elements, such as heading styles, bullet points, arrows and button styles.
• Webpages - Each webpage in the website is built using one of the templates as a base.  We take a template and add and format content and content images to create the actual pages.  Content formatting includes using the site-wide design elements to the content.  Note: optional per page graphic design service are also available to add "spice" to individual pages.
